Jessi Goei, originally from Long Island, New York, moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 2003. Following in her older sister’s footsteps, she started gymnastics and soon joined the Rhythmic Gymnastics team at age 5 with Carolina Gymnastics Academy. As a competitor at the meets, the judges always commented on her smile and her presence on the floor. A year later, she crossed paths with dance and fell in love with the craft. Though gymnastics was not for her, the work ethic and training she learned from rhythmic helped her greatly in dance. Curious by the violin, and asking over and over again if she could take lessons, her parents saw that she was serious about the instrument, and signed her up. Even though she was involved in activities that were musical and creative, which required performing, Jessi was not interested in musical theatre until she saw her sister in a production of A Christmas Carol. At 9 years old, Jessi was accepted into her first musical and loved every second of it. After competing in both gymnastics and dance, this was by far her favorite. Through the years, she explored many styles of dance with various studios and teachers, performed in numerous musicals and straight plays with different companies in Wilmington, and played violin in Jr. Strings, Hoggard High School’s Orchestra as 1st chair and is now playing for weddings. Her favorite characters she has performed as include, Fan Dancer/Princess (The King and I), Tigerlily (Peter Pan), and Louise (Carousel). In the 2015 Thalian Association Awards, Jessi received the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for Tigerlilly. Since 6 months old she has been modeling, performing in commercials and TV, but has not truly pursued it until thirteen. She has had the privilege of being cast in the movie Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life in the role of Bella, based on the book by James Patterson. She is currently getting her associates in Music of Fine Arts at Cape Fear Community College. Jessi is very involved with her church, Port City Community Church, as a Singer, Storyteller, Small Group Leader, Student Leader and Intern. She uses her God given talents to glorify Him and wouldn’t want to be doing anything else.
